About me
I am a community and spatial ecologist interested in using spatial information to understand the effects of disturbance on aquatic species communities and ecosystem function. My research focuses on population and community level ecosystem dynamics in freshwater systems. I am especially interested in how fisheries management and land use practices affect biogeochemical nutrient cycling in streams. I am also interested in modeling aquatic species’ distributions, species-habitat relationships, and estimating population parameters using likelihood based mark-recapture methods. Now at Heritage University, much of my effort is dedicated to designing effective curriculum and research strategies to improve outcomes underrepresented minority students in the STEM fields. My goal is to build a research program that engages minority undergraduate students and produces high quality science. I am also an ultra-endurance mountain biker for Chumba Cycles and Wanderlust Gear and a Contributing Editor for Bikepacker Magazine.
